Lawn

Lawn is a four-piece band (Job, Titus, Okkie & Maarten). Coming from a heavier stoner- rock sound, the band slowly developed into more indie/postrock directions, always making sure to never loose sight of “the song”. After a few demo’s their first album Lawn-dro-mat became the first step to a bigger audience, receiving good reviews in the Netherlands and Germany. With their second album Backspace the band met the high expectations of press and audience alike. With labels and booking-agents in Germany and the Netherlands Lawn started their 2 year long campaign of playing and promoting their music. Lawn supported and toured with: Slut, Sophia, Anathema, Belasco, The Gathering, Dinosaur Jr, Explosions in the Sky,Fireside and many more. The band also succesfully played on showcase festivals Popkomm, Noorderslag and Eurosonic. The single Fix (with Anneke van Giersbergen from The Gathering / Aqua de Annique) got picked up the (national) radio-stations and the video (with Dutch award-winning actor Frank Lammers) got aired on MTV, The Box, a.o.

With new songs up their sleeve, the band wanted give the new album a more solid production. With some advice from Robin Proper-Sheppard (Sophia, God Machine) on the pre-production side, Lawn hit the studio with well-known producers Phil Vinall (dEUS, Placebo, Snow Patrol, Radiohead) and Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho, 35007) (2).
‘Silver’ has resulted in a very ‘cut to the chase’ sounding record, impatient even. Shorter, more fast pace songs. But still with the strong tendency to sound inventive, throwing in weird sounding guitars and drums; violins; synths; cut ‘n’ paste techniques for good measure. Again, the Dutch media have unanimously received the record with good reviews.
